Kecen is serving with the City of Vancouver. While the City's volunteer program is closed, Kecen raises fresh produce for food-insecure community members with the Clark County Food Bank.

Overcoming barriers

Jeff is serving with the Sound Learning in Shelton. Jeff helps English language learners and other students build on the skills they need to navigate the workplace and domestic life.

Adapting to new landscapes

Gillian is serving with the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust. Gillian makes stewardship opportunities available to a diverse audience across the Seattle area to help protect the natural environment for years to come.

Fire ecology & restoration

Alex is serving with the Center for Natural Lands Management (CNLM) in Olympia. Alex uses controlled prairie burns to remove invasive species and restore natural habitat.

Distance learning

Annay is serving with Blue Mountain Action Council in Walla Walla. Annay continues to provide tutoring services to students with and without at-home internet access.

Making a difference

The report below is only a brief summary of the multitude of outcomes that Service Corps and Reading Corps service sites reported on between September 2022 and August 2023.

WSC AmeriCorps members serve in 7 different focus areas in both urban and rural settings throughout Washington state. The impact of this service can be challenging to measure precisely because of the intangibility of some benefits, and the time it takes some interventions to result in a measurable effect.
